Snoring isn't something you can ignore your whole life - it must be addressed in order for you to live a healthy "sleep life." You shouldn't have to live with your snoring problem, and neither should your partner. You don't have to live with your snoring anymore because there are various tips and methods you can do to reduce or completely eliminate your snoring condition. Once you found the root cause of your snoring problem then you are ready to cure it.

Step 1 Say your snoring is do to the low quality of air in your household. Do you feel stuffed up all the time and constantly blowing your nose? If so, you can purchase a humidifier or dehumidifier to enable you to breathe more clear. If the air in your house is too dry you may have a congested nose causing you to breathe though your moth. Breathing through your mouth when sleeping will increase your risk of snoring surely. Once you are able to breathe through your nose, your mouth will stay shut (hopefully) causing you to drift into dream land without you having to worry about your snoring anymore.

Step 2 You can simply change sleeping positions when trying to stop snoring. If you sleep on your back, you can train yourself to sleep on your side with a tennis ball attached to your shirt. If you roll over onto a tennis ball you will immediately feel uncomfortable and roll back on your side. Over time, you will subconsciously stay on your side because of the fear of rolling on your back is implanted in your head.

Step 3 A contour pillow will help position your head at the right level to maximize your breathing capacity. Not only should your body be in the correct position when sleeping (on your side) but your head needs to be at the right level as well.

Step 4 Losing weight will also decrease your risk of snoring on a nightly basis. The less neck fat you have the less likely you are to snore. A healthy diet and routine exercise will get you in better shape both mentally and physically - and cause you to snore less and less as time goes on.

Step 5 Try avoiding alcohol consumption and smoking as much as possible (this means second hand smoke as well). Avoid sleeping pills and antihistamines because they relax your neck muscles too much - which then can cause the snoring sound. Avoid milk before bed also because dairy products can minimize the mucus from being drained, therefore, you will have a mucus-filled throat that will cause you to snore.

Step 6 Nasal sprays, nasal strips and chin straps are also effective methods when trying to eliminate your snoring. These treatments are inexpensive and will work more times then not too. If you are skeptical, give one or all a try and see where your snoring stands after a week. If you attempt all of these methods, your snoring should be cured within a couple weeks. If not, you should then consider speaking with a doctor to determine what is exactly causing your snoring problem.
