Adidas Sparks Huge Controversy Over Valentines Day Post

Talk about making a huge stride in the LGBT community, especially after such a huge love holiday like Valentine’s Day. Recently, Adidas unveiled a cutesy photograph of a couple standing in a pair of sneakers, with one obviously standing on tiptoe to lean in for a kiss. The photo as pictured above was then captioned with the following: “The love you take is equal to the love you make.” The photo was meant to encourage and uplift on a day centered on love, however, it seems that many Instagram users were unhappy with the photograph. Why were these users getting so heated? Well, the photo featured two females as a couple.

While a majority of the commentary underneath the photo was positive, there were still people who found the photo to be offensive. One user even commented saying that Valentine’s Day is, “FOR BOY AND GIRL, WHEN THEY ARE COUPLE.” However, Adidas did not stay quiet on the issue as they quickly fired back with some commentary on their part as well.

Adidas quickly wrote back stating,”No, this day is for LOVE. Happy Valentine’s Day.”

All of this controversy surrounding Adidas has brought about much loyalty to the LGBT community as Adidas added a clause to their sponsorship contracts stating that they will not terminate working with any athlete that identifies themselves as a part of the LGBT community.

You go, Adidas! It’s great to see large companies taking a stand with a community that has had to deal with so much discrimination over the decades.
